The Fourth Order of Francis and Clare

Dear Companions and Friends,
This year at the feast of the transitus (death and passage) of Francis we are calling for a global prayer of union and compassion. All are invited to this prayer.
Just as Francis himself on those days before his death occupied himself in prayer and praise completing the great Canticle of the Creatures, let us celebrate his day world wide with the same creative focused intent.
Let us make cords of praise and unity!
Please write and share your experience of this meditation so that we may share joy with each other. It will be posted on this site.

Quote of the Month

“Spirituality is not flight from the world, by running away from things, or by turning solitary and going apart from the world. Rather, we must learn an inner solitude wherever or with whomsoever we may be. We must learn to penetrate things and find God there.”

Chanting Press and Website Delight
Throughout this site we chose to print poems in the voice of Francis from Barbara Flaherty's Holy Madness.  Your  feedback indicates you have enjoyed them. As we prepare for its Fall 2003 publication we have chosen to present other poems from the collection. Of these more personal poems  Anthony Christensen OFM states they have,"the sharp sting of an Anne Sexton with the redemptive thrust of William Blake." We agree.
Sweeney in Paperback
By your request we are preparing to publish The Sweeney Lacunae in book form with introduction and notes by Patricia Monaghan.
